Anticipating autumn.

Summer’s winding down.

THANK GOD.

I’ve never been this ready for autumn this early, craving crisp afternoons and burning candles.

When I was little, I was a big Bernstein Bears fan, collecting well over 50 of the books. I read them over and over.

Among my favorites were the book where the cubs cleaned and organized their bedroom and the Halloween story. I remember one line about Mama Bear walking home with groceries and looking up to see birds flying in a V-formation overhead.

I don’t know why but that scene in particular was so sweetly comforting to me as a child.

Internally, I think I’m always in an autumn state — yearning to slow with a steamy soup and a movie at home. I want to leave my windows open all day, put on socks, and watch the sun dip sooner.

I’m so ready.

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like fall. Good things are coming for all of us.
