Get Out From Under Self-Criticism and Keep This Cute Trick Handy
If you’re lucky enough to have photos of yourself as a kid, keep your favorite ones close. Don’t leave it in a box or a dusty album in the attic.
Put your favorite one on display.
Frame it.
Keep it on your fridge.
Snap a picture and keep it in your “favorited” folder on your phone.
Look at this photo every time you’re frustrated with yourself, you’re impatient with your progress in life, or you wish you were more of one thing or less of something else.
Take a moment and look at young you.
Remember how far you’ve come.
Give yourself props for making it through, surviving what you’ve survived, and figuring out a way to deal with it all and still look that cute.
You figured out how to get by then, you’ll figure out how to get by now.
Somewhere inside you, that kid is still in there.
Let your eyes soften towards them.
Let your words soften towards yourself.
